Jacob earned his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of St Andrews in the United Kingdom in 2020. As an undergraduate, Jacob received a Wellcome Trust Biomedical Vacation Scholarship to support a project in Dr. Ulrich Schwarz-Linek’s laboratory focused on cell wall anchored adhesins in gram-positive bacterial pathogens. After graduating, Jacob worked at Emory in Dr. Erin Scherer’s laboratory as a Research Specialist, where his main project focused on IgG glycosylation changes in response to SARS-CoV-2 infection in adult and pediatric patients. Jacob joined Emory’s Microbiology and Molecular Genetics PhD program in 2023 and joined Dr. Christopher LaRock’s laboratory in 2024. There, his focus is on Streptococcus pyogenes adhesive interactions with skin cells during infection.
