Evan completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at Oakland University before moving on to a P.h.D in biochemistry and molecular medicine at West Virginia University. There, he studied the structure and mechanism of catalytic DNA. His central interest lies in molecular and structural biology and understanding how things function at the most fundamental level. After finishing his PhD at the end of 2025, he came to Emory to further refine and apply his experience in structural methods (X-ray and Cryo-EM), as well as explore new biological techniques in cell culture. He aspires to become a future faculty member and lead his own research program in the future. Outside of lab, he enjoys sports, video games, and hiking.
