Xia was born in Su Zhou, China and graduated with her BS in Biology from the East China Normal University in Shanghai. She has been in Georgia and a part of the Emory University system since 1994.

She comes to us most recently from the lab where she was lab supervisor and manager for 20 years and has authored/coauthored over 100 peer reviewed publications.

Her research over the last two decades has primarily dealt with investigations into how PIKE, a PI3Kinase enhancer, mediates PI3Kinase / AKT and it’s downstream signaling in brain tumors and small molecules can interact with Tyrosine Kinase receptors in the brain and subsequent impact on neurodegenerative diseases. She is excited to usher in a new chapter in her research journey and joined the Bou-Nader lab in 2024.

She and her family enjoy spending their off time at the lake for boating and tubing. Her hobbies include Chinese operatic/traditional singing and spending time with her lovely maltese.
