Itxaso Santiago

Visiting Scholar, Aarhus University

Itxaso Santiago is an international PhD student from the Basque Country (Bilbao). She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology, where she developed a strong interest in human physiology and genetics. She went on to complete a master’s degree in biomedical research, also in the Basque Country. After her master’s, she worked for a short period as a research assistant at University College Dublin. Itxaso is now pursuing her PhD at Aarhus University in Demark, where she studies microRNAs—an area of research that continues to fascinate her. She is especially amazed by the complexity and regulatory power of microRNAs in gene expression. Outside of the lab, she enjoys hiking or doing any kind of sports, she loves spending time with friends and is always ready for any kind of plans.
