Junyi Zhou, who goes by Conny, is an international student at Emory University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics and Statistics with a minor in Computer Informatics. Born in Shanghai, China, he spent part of his early childhood in Gdynia, Poland, which he considers his second hometown. He will continue his studies at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, specializing in Health Data Science. Inspired by the growing role of AI in healthcare, he is passionate about developing data-driven solutions to real-world problems. Before joining his current lab, Conny collaborated with Emory’s QTM department to build a legislative database and worked with Emory’s AI Center and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on an airway management training system. These experiences helped sharpen both his technical and collaborative skills. His current research focuses on building data pipelines around AlphaFold, with particular interest in how transformer and diffusion models improve protein structure prediction. He also explores cutting-edge developments in language and computer vision models, often reading and implementing recent research. Outside of academics, Conny enjoys running, gaming, singing, and spending time with family and friends. Among his favorite artists is JJ Lin, whose music continues to inspire and ground him.
